Welcome to The Center for Kashmir, where our singular mission is:

"To Preserve, Protect And Promote The Kashmiri Way Of Life"

The Center for Kashmir, a 501(c)(3) public charity, aims to serve as the global focal point on the art, culture, and history of the South Asian Himalayan region. With a combined South Asian population of approximately 1.5 billion, the Valley of Kashmir has been revered not only by its neighbors but visitors from across the globe. A unique culture, exceptional artisans, rich craftsmanship and finest wool (cashmere) appeals to a curious mind to explore and understand.

The Center for Kashmir vision starts off with a museum and public library. A learning center for open and cross-cultural exchange of ideas. A platform where students, historians, and anthropologists can deep-dive into the Himalayan region and for local communities to engage and mold the narrative for generations to come.

First Peoples & Land Acknowledgement

Every community owes its existence to people who contributed their hopes, dreams, and energy to making the history that led to this moment. Some were brought here against their will, some were drawn to leave their distant homes in hopes of better lives, some were forced from their homelands, and some have lived on this land for more generations than can be counted. Honoring truth is essential to building a just and equitable world. While acknowledgement is important, it is only a beginning.

The Center for Kashmir Inc. acknowledges that we are privileged to gather on the lands of the Seneca and Tuscarora nations and other Indigenous communities who have stewarded this land throughout generations. We honor their sovereignty, demonstrate respect, and correct the stories and practices that have erased Indigenous peoples’ history and culture by inviting and honoring truth. As an institution striving for sharing the story, history, and heritage of the people of Kashmir, we believe that truth and recognition are critical components to building connections across all barriers of heritage and differences. We offer land acknowledgment as part of the conscious effort to affirm our commitment to be better stewards of the land on which we stand and to pledge to work in partnership with a spirit of mutual respect and collaboration.
